Mike Locke At La Playa Dayclub

Fort Lauderdale, Fl. - It’s time to hit the dance floor. This Sunday, September 25, 2022, La Playa Dayclub welcomes the very talented DJ and Producer, Mike Locke, to our treehouse as he debuts his new EP “Tiki Drinks” and celebrates with us in an all-out tiki-inspired party.
Formally touring as Shiro Tiger, this Miami-based house music producer debuts his new track and unveils that, moving forward, he will be using his given name, Mike Locke, as a proclamation and commitment to authenticity. “I feel like it is just time to be me,” says Mike Locke, from my name and through my music.” This shows to be true with his new chart-climbing track “Tiki Drinks” as he spent his early years growing up in Hawaii to the sounds of luaus and the ground ipu, stone castanets, the calabash rattles and the pahu drums. He even has a Hawaiian steel guitar prominently placed on the track. For those who were fans of Shiro Tiger, you are still in for a treat as the second song on the EP “Tribal Dance” still features his funky baselines and tribal percussion but now with that Aloha spirit. “Pele”, short for Pelehonuamea, is widely known in folklore as the goddess of volcanoes, where the song encourages you, through fun surfy vibes to just dance to.
Mike Locke, a three-time winner of the “Best DJ in Fort Lauderdale” award by Fort Lauderdale Magazine, is a staple of music here in South Florida, playing across the tri-county area in venues we all know and love, like Respectable Street, Kill Your Idol, 215 Speakeasy, Voltaire, The Hidden Garden, Mama Tried and a variety of others. He also frequently takes the stage at large community events like the Winter Music Conference, and Art Festivals for large cities like Pompano Beach. “Mike Locke is a very talented DJ and producer,” says Joyce Mealey, Entertainment Manager for Round Table Marketing Group and for La Playa Dayclub. “We have been working with Mike for many years. He has played numerous brunches, VIP events, and large festivals, and we have watched thousands dance to his music. We are honored to have him come and headline La Playa!”
This tiki party at La Playa Dayclub is comprised of a full day of events right on the gorgeous South Florida coastline of Fort Lauderdale Beach. With brunch kicking off the day at 11am and afternoon and evening programming beginning at 3pm, guests are encouraged to come to dine, eat, and dance on this second-floor open-air venue just steps from the beach. Other artists featured this day are: Apocalypse, Fractal Gamma, Gabo & Nico, and Phoneks.
